Global Leaders was founded to benefit the underprivileged children of the Washington, D.C. community by enhancing their academic success, personal enrichment, and global vision. Now, GL is improving the intellectual, personal, social, civic service, and leadership skills of children in the Washington area, other parts of country, and around the world.
We educate children from varied educational, geographic, and socio-economic backgrounds. However, we still concentrate especially on young students who speak English as a second language and whom we determine to have the greatest need.
We use a multi-faceted approach to facilitate academic and personal growth and enrichment. This responsibility starts with our staff of adult Professional Advisors and Mentors and extends to Student Volunteers, Tutors, and Leaders of the organization.
One of our main goals is to ensure that our American and foreign students are prepared to enter America’s most select secondary schools and colleges as well as the stimulating professions of their choice. Another goal – perhaps the most ambitious of all – is to assist youth to prepare to serve as effective and kind Global Leaders of Tomorrow.
Global Leaders' most important youth development and educational goals are:
- Teaching youth to embrace and foster diversity and multiculturalism.
- Energizing youth to champion the American values, views, and visions.
- Encouraging youth to appreciate, preserve, and promote democracy.
- Motivating youth to advocate and advance the global peace and prosperity.
- Inspiring youth to become outstanding world-class scholars and leaders.

Even though we have begun serving mostly Asian American students in the greater Washington area who have economic or language disadvantages, we emphasize equal opportunities for all students. We are committed to helping all students of varying backgrounds achieve their academic, personal, social, civic service, and leadership goals. As Global Leaders evolves and grows within the local and global community, we hope to appeal to a greater diversity of young scholars and adult professionals in the Washington area, other parts of the country, and around the world.

Our mission at Global Leaders, Inc. (GL) is nothing less than the total success of all our students in their school years and in later life. We provide a competent and knowledgeable staff of adult Professional Advisors and Mentors as well as Student Tutors, Mentors, and Leaders to ensure that students both learn and learn to lead. We will continue to work with select community and global partners to provide students with the foundations they require for future academic and personal success. We look forward to the coming years as we grow with our students and share in their academic, intellectual, personal, social, civic service, and leadership achievements.

Currently, Global Leaders holds a limited number of tutoring sessions in the greater Washington, D.C. area. As resources are limited, we depend on parents and students for certain study materials and transportation. We also rely on generous volunteering Student Tutors and Adult Instructors to drive to our young students’ homes (while their parents or guardians are present) and provide supplemental educational services. This is a tremendous help for those young students and their families who may not have the transportation or resources to get to the after-school community or learning centers on their own to seek necessary support.
As we grow in the community, we anticipate that our resources will grow commensurately. We will be able to offer students and parents more services and support including transportation. We will also have more spacious facilities for group student leadership sessions, classroom instructions, local and global internship opportunities, and stimulating community events.
We also hope to coordinate and offer more educational and exciting local and global community charity events – such as challenging math and essay competitions, educational seminars for parents, and youth global relief concerts and charity talent shows.
We have provided our students with extracurricular stimulation by chaperoning and subsidizing 9/11 writing workshops in New York City and field trips to the Smithsonian Museums in the Washington, D.C. area. We plan to make more such offerings in the future. We believe that cultural and social enrichment are integral to the overall, healthy development of successful global leaders of tomorrow. To continue to improve our services and help more people, however, we must enter a phase of transition.
Global Leaders' has been granted a tax-exempt, public charity status – under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code – by the Internal Revenue Service, a U.S. federal government agency (www.irs.gov). We are actively seeking tax-deductible, generous, voluntary contributions and donations. This, however, will probably not solve all of our financial shortcomings. To continue to maintain, expand, and improve the level and number of services we offer, we need to generate operating revenue through various community and global educational programs that are consistent with GL’s charity values and missions.
Even as we look to Our Future, we will always remember and be grateful to our generous and talented volunteers who have given and/or continue to give so much time and effort, without recompense, to help us advance our notable youth educational plans and achieve our ambitious youth leadership development goals.
